What We Believe

A CONFESSIONAL CHURCH:  We preach, teach and confess Jesus Christ as the only Savior of mankind.  Our one purpose is to bring Christ to all people and all people to Christ.

A LUTHERAN CHURCH:  We are a church that traces its origin through Martin Luther's Reformation of 1517 and back to the Church of the Apostles, established by Jesus Christ Himself.  We are part of a 2.5 million member church called The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, which has 6150 congregations world-wide.  Our church originated the world-wide radio broadcast, "The Lutheran Hour", and the television program, "This is the Life".

A BIBLE CHURCH:  We believe and teach that the entire Bible is the Word of God, given to human beings by the Holy Spirit.  This Scripture is the only source of knowledge about God and His will for us.

A GOSPEL CHURCH:  Our preaching and teaching are Gospel-centered.  We proclaim the Good News that God through His Son Jesus Christ has redeemed the entire world from the slavery of sin, death, and hell.  We believe that Jesus Christ, true God and true man, suffered and died on earth as punishment for sin.  He lived in perfect obedience to God.  He was without sin.  It is only because of Him, not because of anything we can do, that our perfect relationship with God is restored through the forgiveness of sin.  We receive this forgiveness of our sins and eternal life completely and freely as God's gift through faith in Jesus Christ.

A TEACHING CHURCH:  Because God's Word is so important, we emphasize Christian education and encourage participation in our Sunday school for children, youth and adults.  Vacation Bible School is encouraged in the summer.  Adult information classes are scheduled for those who wish to inquire into the Lutheran faith.  These sessions review the fundamentals of the Christian faith as confessed by Lutherans.

A LITURGICAL CHURCH:  A definite pattern of worship is used at our church. The pattern of our worship is from God to us, and then from us back to God. God gives us his gifts, and together we receive and use them. Worship for a Lutheran is a joyous, happy, high point of the week.  We believe that an altar, cross, candles, vestments, banners and other church symbols, help teach us and give glory and honor to God.  Our worship works best when those present do not see themselves as spectators, but as participants.

A SACRAMENTAL CHURCH:  We administer the Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper according to Christ's institution and command in the Holy Scriptures. In the sacraments God Himself has joined His Word to a visable element.  We believe that through these Sacraments God offers, gives, and seals the forgiveness of sins, eternal life, and salvation to all believers.
